WHO WE ARE
Smart Ladies Youth Initiative is a registered Community-Based Organization (CBO) working in Kisumu and Migori Counties since 2004 (Reg. No. 03257). We empower girls and young women aged 10–29 through value-based sports and art, focusing on Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), life skills, and gender equality.
CURRENT ACTIVITIES
‘Advocacy to end the silence of SGBV in Sports’
- Sensitization of sports federation officials on SGBV in Kisumu and Migori counties
- Formation of County Sports Gender Technical Working Groups in Kisumu and Migori Counties
- Interviewing of SGBV survivors in Sports to create a platform for sensitization and Advocacy on policy implementations and reforms
FUTURE PLANNED ACTIVITIES
- Sensitization of Sports women and men on how to prevent, identify, report and followup on issues of SGBV in Sports
- Sports policy reviews and push for implementation
- Creation of safe spaces for sports women and girls
- SRHR sensitization to in school and out school girls and young women
- Advocacy on Gender Equality in sports
- Economic empowerment to young women

Sexual Reproductive Health Success
In the realm of Sexual Reproductive Health, Smart Ladies Youth Initiative has made significant strides in Kisumu and Migori Counties. Through engaging in talks, dialogue forums, counseling sessions, and community outreach, we’ve successfully improved access to crucial Reproductive Health information and services for girls and young women. Our holistic approach ensures that individuals in the community are equipped with accurate information, resources, and support to make informed decisions about their reproductive well-being, fostering a healthier and more empowered generation.
Sports, Arts, and Cultural Success
Smart Ladies Youth Initiative takes pride in its pioneering efforts in using sports, arts, and cultural activities as catalysts for empowerment. Since 2003, we’ve been at the forefront of promoting women’s football, hosting international cultural events, and providing a platform for young talents. The success stories include securing education scholarships for footballers, producing female football coaches with prestigious licenses, and contributing to the representation of our members in national sports teams. Through these endeavors, we’ve not only made a mark in sports but also instilled a sense of identity and unity among participants.
